We have now opened up registration for the 2010 Alberta Race Car Association (ARCA) Competition / High Performance Driving School to be held on May 1-2, 2010.
 
To register for the school please go to the following Karelo website and complete the registration/payment form:
 
For 2010 we will be including a complimentary one-year membership in ARCA, a Western Canada Motorsport Association (WCMA) affiliated club.
 
We have a limited number of spaces available and spots are filled on a first come, first served basis. Your acceptance in the school is not considered complete until the registration form/payment is received.
 
THIS SCHOOL IS CONDITIONAL UPON RACE CITY BEING OPEN FOR BUSINESS AND THE TRACK IS ACCEPTABLE TO WCMA SAFETY STANDARDS. If not the school will be cancelled and the registration fees will be refunded. A final decision will be made by April 15, 2010.

2010 High Performance/Competition Driving School
 
2010 will be the 24th annual anniversary providing an introduction to sports car road racing and high performance driving at Race City Motorsport Park.
 
Successful completion of this course entitles participants to obtain a road race license issued by Western Canadian Motorsport Association (WCMA).
 
Schedule & Cost
Date: May 1 & 2, 2010
Schedule:  2 full days
Cost: $500 plus GST
Registration Deadline: April 23rd, 2010
 
Register as early as possible, each year the school sells out prior to the school date.   Priority registration is given to those students who plan on competing.
 
Format
The school provides an introduction to high performance and competition driving on a road course. We use a combination of classroom, skid-pad exercises and road-course lapping to provide students with a comprehensive 2 day learning experience. Full race course lapping sessions with in-car instructors.
 
Topics covered include:
-Driving with precision - learning the proper line around a track
-Staying in control - managing weight transfer to get the most from your car
-Braking techniques
-Seating and control operation - how to use the brakes, steering and throttle
-Applicability for everyday driving
-Race licensing - for those who wish to start road racing
 
Vehicle Information
-Students use their own vehicles.
-A convertible must have a behind-the-driver rollover structure either installed by the manufacturer or is an aftermarket rollover structure certified by its manufacturer to meet a recognized standard
-Pick up trucks, SUVs or rental cars are not permitted.
-Alberta Race Car Association and its scrutineers will have the final decision as to whether to accept a particular vehicle and their decision will be final.
 
Focus
To introduce participants to sports car road racing, to help improve every day driving skills and to provide students the opportunity to obtain an amateur sports car road-racing license.
 
Training By Those Who Know Driving
Sanctioned by the Western Canada Motorsport Association - ASN Canada FIA Inc.
Organized by the Alberta Race Car Association.
Conducted by amateur and professional race car drivers representing various sports car clubs in Alberta.
